My server has been down for about 8 hours already and I have recently contacted my web host support and they said it is having an issue and they are now doing maintenance to bring back the server up. I confronted him straight to the point and ask if there's anything like DDOS then it's ok to tell me....he said no it's pure server issue.

Now let's say my site is down for total around 12 hours, would it affect my SERPs badly? If yes, and let's say my site has been back up, how long does it need before i get my original rankings?

Mac OS X Proxy Testing & Switching

I recently did some work with some PVAs from XGC Media. The list of 200 accounts they sent me only had 16 working accounts in it. Within a day they had a new list of 200 for me that was perfect. I'm impressed. But the real reason for this post is that to work with these accounts it requires a large number of proxy servers and an efficient way to test them, configure them , and then reset safari so you don't get narc'ed by cookies. Below is the source code I used to automate all this by command line on OS X Lion. No need to buy proxy switching software on a mac.


First you need a web page that tells you your IP address and nothing else.


Next we need a shell script called "randomproxy" to execute from the terminal window.


Remember to "chmod 755 randomproxy" this script!

Then we need an applescript file called "resetsafari" to automate resetting Safari

Then optionally we need a script called "disableproxies" to turn the proxy config off when we are done

For those of you that have client websites, how have the recent Panda 2.5/2.6/whatever updates hurt/helped their websites? We have all been talking about our own websites. Have business websites been hit too?

I purchased a few fivver gigs that equal to about 200 social bookmarks, and a few thousand forum profiles. I then did a few hundred comments myself using scrapebox, this was all about a month ago.

Until now, my site only shows I have 14 backlinks, and most of this is as a link from another website i own.

So long story short... I've noticed the small companies that go from $250,000/year in revenue to $10,000,000+ in revenue within 6-10 years have THIS ONE THING IN COMMON that I keep seeing...

The owner of the company makes all the employees (usually less then 30) have some very 'high' positions.. Director, Manager, Lead, Affairs, National, etc...

BIG NAMES, small company.

Best part of all, those people buy into this, 'think' they feel more responsibility and actually DO a lot more work then is required, and in return, that is why the company goes very fast within years.

So my question is... is there a book on some like.. company management? or something?

Facebook Phone Roadblock beats Facebook Account Creator bots.

That is right. Since October 14, 2011 Facebook now requires all new facebook accounts to put in your phone number. Others might contradict me with this but I had asked around 10 online friends in different countries including US to try to make a facebook account and they all got same result. Phone is required.


So this makes facebook create bots obsolete. But I don't think we hear the last of it. I know these account creators wants to their business back and the way they gonna do it is to make bots that uses facebook phone verification and PUT legit phone numbers of random people, establishment, etc and once facebook get a few thousand complaints of unsolicited text and voice verification, then they will change their verification system.

Facebook did this to lessen spam in their account creation but this won't stop facebook from spamming others.

Now it makes me wonder about the rumor that Anonymous said about Facebook that they are selling our private information to others so that they can market to us.

If you are good with making, uploading and seeding torrents, but don't want to spend time figuring out the monetization then this is perfect for you.

So I created a site about a week ago in a pretty competitive niche. I've managed to get my site #8 for the last 3 days and this is all normal for me. But I went to check my backlink count and I just saw some links coming from adult toy porn sites.

I've never actually pissed someone off enough to start blasting my site with this stuff and so what do you guys do to combat this the best way? I don't know who's posting the links so I can't blast back with any of my software.

I know how to find High Pr auto approve niche specific comment links thanks to SB but I don't know if comments will be enough.

Ok, so i uploaded a video, and it stayed online for 4 days, after 4 days, it was removed.
So i uploaded it again, and INSTA-remove..
I thought, okay it prolly recognizes it.. So i changed thing in the video, and still insta-remove! I tried everything => Used other account, changed title, changed things in video content, make it longer, make it shorter.. Nothing helps.

I used to have a program that would change the 'video code' but as awesome as it was. I cannot open the program anymore..(youtube advertiser) cause it's dead.
So now i'm w/o a good YT bot, and w/o YT video's...

Can anybody kick my in the right direction again?

Like I said before I have a problem with very low CTR.I managed to increase it for some time by changing the ad blocks, but then it went down again.

For about 1300+ pageviews i have only about 4-5 clicks.

So I think this is the right place to post this, if not can a appropiate authority please stick it where it is supposed to be.

I've been thinking recently how I can drive more traffic to my already established business and upcoming new venture, and a lightbulb kinda pinged on :)

Just wanna test the water with this idea at the moment and see what people think about it.

Currently I run an online retailer that I started at the beginning of this year, its all legit, I hold stock, have fulfillment warehouses and all that jazz, and basically I'm getting to the point where all of my current traffic driving methods are pretty much at their max.

These have done VERY well, as not a single one of them are paid traffic sources, and typically bring in anywhere between 5-10k of UV's a day.

However, we all like more profit, and to achieve that now, one of the options I'm having to look at is to start paying for traffic along side my current methods.

I've looked at Adwords and other PPC providers and to bring any good traffic for my most popular products is gunna cost me, to cover all the long tail products will probably cost me more, plus I begrudge giving Google any money whatsoever!

So, I thought maybe I could bring some opportunity here for those that are trying to make a buck and struggling.

What I'm thinking is for all intents a purposes a kinda affiliate program, but I would pay for traffic as opposed to sales. I don't want junk traffic of course, so as an incentive, the better conversion rate of traffic anyone sends, the more I would pay for the traffic.

These tiers arent set in stone as yet, but I'm thinking along the lines of the following:

1k UV < 1% conversion = $5
1k UV > 1% conversion = $10
1k UV > 2% conversion = $20
1k UV > 3% conversion = $30
1k UV > 4% conversion = $40
.....
1k UV > 10% or less conversion = $100

Same tiers (whatever I settle on) would probably be the same for the new venture I'm working on at the moment. I'm planning on going head to head with a large player, as they have made a huge boo-boo and left a particular market wide open for the taking.

Any thoughts? Any ideas? Any interest in something like this?

As you can tell by my post count, I'm completely new here. Been lurking for several days, but mainly in the Social Networking area, as, being a student, that's what I'm inherently familiar with. Just wondering cause rankings have slowed down for me. I'm guessing Google is still rolling out the panda update.

I remember the first Google panda update, the first few weeks after it was being rolled out ... everyone was complaining of rankings coming slowly. Then all of a sudden it was normal.

and then..I also tried STUMBLEUPON, I've followed a lot of people...but none of them are following back...I've viewed 300 posts...but still the result is only 15 visitors...just for a day...tomorrow...it gets 0 again... :(

One of my sites tends to get 1 or 2 clicks per day, but each click usually gets me between $1 and $3.

I've just checked Adsense and today this particular site has had 13 clicks.....earning me a total of $0.75! That's about 5c per click, about 1/40th of the usual value!

Anyway, not really looking for help or advice, just a rant as much as anything!
