Im new to the IM world and have been looking at what I want to get involved with. I plan on doing a whitehat authority site running adsense, and while that obviously is not the fastest, highest-earning method, I feel it is the safest and something I look at as an extension to my daily hobby, so I will enjoy it. Outside of that site though, I am looking at something I can spend about 1-2 hours a day on to have a side-income.

Right now, Article writing is my next choice. I am from Canada, and write well enough that I feel I could do a good job for english-based unique articles. I type quite fast and could most likely push out a strong researched article of 500 words within 15 minutes (with double checking and formatting) as an average. From past jobs ive done acouple months ago, I worked for $1 per 100 words. That gives me an estimate of $20 an hour at optimized rate (so in reality, it would probably be $15 or so)

That sounds like a great hourly wage, but the problem with the last time I attempted article writing, was finding enough jobs and reliable people to work with on a consistent basis.

So my question to the people here; Do you feel there is enough work out there for someone to consistently get say $20 a day in article writing? Where would be the best place for me to start in terms of finding reliable and legit English-speaking people looking for high-quality writing? Odesk and other Freelancer websites seem to cater to the cheaper rates and "spun" articles.. I'd love to find a long-term partner who can send me anywhere from 4 to 10 articles a day, paying at least weekly..

Does anyone here currently make a large portion of their monthly income solely from article writing? Any advice in terms of how to sustain a business model as a writer?

Ok, so I've been reading a lot of postings here, and I would like to help some of you get your game a little better. This isn't all inclusive, so if you have any questions, I'd be happy to help you.

1. Please, stop asking for a "catalog". Catalogs are for slow moving products. It's something that distributors have. Wholesalers, Jobbers, Liquidators, etc...don't have a catalog. Not even the big boys. I deal with many multi-billion dollar suppliers, and you're lucky if you can even get a manifest.

2. I know it's convenient to look at websites for information, but the best information you can find from a supplier is going to be by emailing or CALLING them! Prices are not always definite, and more importantly...many suppliers are too busy to be posting their new stock once it arrives. Chances are, you can CALL a supplier and ask, "Hello, I'm looking for XYZ, you wouldn't happen to have any in stock, would you?" Chances are, they might.

3. My little secret: The best thing to do with a lot of suppliers is to be added to their e-mail list. The best offers and lowest prices are going to be found this way. It's much easier to send out a 20 second email to your buyers than it is to post it on your website. I know many LEGIT companies that ONLY sell wholesale through email lists. These companies do millions in business a year.

4. Avoid the middlemen! Get an EIN number. Seriously, google "EIN number" and click on the IRS.gov link. It takes one minute, and then you can go direct with many companies. If a company does NOT ask for your tax id (EIN number), they are a middle man. End of story.

5. Stop hocking replicas! Word of mouth goes a LOOOOOONG way in online retail. After you get a few people to buy your AUTHENTIC merchandise, they will be back for more, and they'll spread your info to their friends. I guarantee it. Also, and more importantly...Some niches, you can find the authentic products even cheaper than the replicas. You just have to know where to look. I can source cosmetcs cheaper than the fakes by avoiding all the middle men. Then, since you built up your name by selling quality products, you can demand a higher price, and PEOPLE WILL PAY IT! The top-rated sellers in ANY niche that I do aren't the cheapest, but they can demand that premium because people trust them and their products.

6. Don't bother asking anyone for sources. Any profitable source is held very tightly to the chest. If I told you my suppliers, you'd undercut me. That's the way the business world works. I, like many sellers, have spent 100's of hours researching suppliers and business methods. It's something you must do if you want to be a successful entrepreneur.

One way I found a lot of the sources I was interested in was by sending them an email to their retail page. You can send something like this.

Hello,

My name is Mary Wxxxxxxx, I'm very interested in offering your products in my store. Can you please have someone contact me about wholesale opportunities? I have a tax id and would be happy to share it. I feel we can have a lucrative relationship. Thanks.

Or something to that effect. Most wholesalers get so many emails, that they don't even bother to answer the ones that don't sound professional.

Also, 7. You probably don't want wholesale like you think you do. You probably want "Jobouts" and liquidation of store stock. It will most generally still be new condition, just much cheaper than wholesale.

8. Stop chasing oversaturated niches. There are a lot of niches out there that have been beat to death so bad that there's no money to be made in them anymore. The ones I can think of off the top of my head are electronics and adult products. I like selling stuff that are hard to come by but have a great market for them. For instance, I deal in high end authentics. It's a lot harder to find maternity clothes, authentic MAC cosmetics, etc.

9. Stop chasing the latest and greatest. Unless you're an ebay seller, selling the hottest new product isn't really going to be good for business. I can understand getting some of the hottest christmas toys and selling them for 400% above cost, but other than that, the market will fade and you'll be stuck sitting on product.

Once I get my business rolling and more profitable, I might start mentoring for a small price. I can also help you find suppliers for whatever you need (since I feel people will be asking.) What do you think the perks are of being single vs. relationship? Which would or do you choose? I can sit here all day and be thankful that I don't hear snoring at night or wake up to dog breath in my face, but the reality of it is I'm desperately lonely.

Ok, So I bought this site for cheap off of flippa about three weeks ago. I'm not really in the mood to actually put in some serious SEO effort on the site. So here's what I did with the site:

I bought a few gigs off of fiver. 3000 backlink pyramid. 10 edu backlinks (bs. it was one of the those .edu.another extension link) and "add your site to 500+ Social book marks.

I put a little banner exchange on the bottom of my site (hasn't done much according to the statcounter module on my wordpress).

About three weeks back, I bought 10000 "live traffic visitors" from a service on BHW. I don't think it was legit though because statcounter is telling me only 400 hits to date whereas the cpanel for the traffic campaign is saying 1500. Not to mention the statcounter only started getting into the hundred AFTER I bought those fiverr gigs.


Anyways, so here's what's going on. My Alexa ranking has been a steady 7,7XX,XXX for a while. Then, this morning I go on to check it and it's suddenly 6,815,XXX. I'm thinking, WTF??? Alexa ranking dropped 1,000,000 in one day? Not only that, last time I bought a gig on fiverr for this site was a week or two ago. Here's my recordings of the alexa rankings:

Hey everyone. I've found some websites that I know are using PPC or paid advertising techniques to advertise their websites and I'm wondering if anyone knows how I would be able to see what their ads actually are?

I know I've heard of things like spyfu or things of the like,but I'm wondering if there's some free alternative, maybe some service on google or something?

I have a client that's looking to start selling their products online as well. they sell scrubs and shoes for the medical field.

They don't have a domain or anything yet. A friend of mine had recommended them to me and gave them my number. With our first phone call they were already asking how much it would cost.. so I'm pretty sure I can make a sell. but I know they don't have tons of money either. I told them I needed to do some research first because I haven't ever messed with cart systems before and I'd get back to them.. and they wanted to know how much it would be for the research but I told them it was free.. I just needed to figure out what all needed to be done before I could make them a quote.

I'm curious how much I should charge them for the initial setup of the website.. which would include purchasing the domain and getting it all setup. I'm going to use wordpress and probably getshopped.orgs eCommerce plugins. I was thinking maybe 400$ for this. do you think that's too much or too cheap? I was also going to charge a monthly fee for continuing to host the website for them. but I'm going to make that around 30-40$ a month. After The website is done and everything I'm going to start talking to them about marketing tactics and getting into SEO.. to try and make some more money down the road.

but really I'm just curious how much I should charge for the initial setup of their website for now.

I've been registered here since 2006 and I've made more than a few posts here. Just noticed my forum post count is stuck on "1".

So I was offered to start making revenue off of my YouTube videos via AdSense. Well then I got to thinking.. how much could I make, guaranteed, on autopilot?

So I got four lists of proxies. I ran two on one computer, one on another, and the last on another. I use a program that views the webpage in a different proxy down the list each time.

A few people PMed me and ask to give a few tips how to get cheap clicks. My best advice would be: Target as narrow as you can. You won't get awesome CTR with every niche, even targeted one, but you are far more likely to succeed if you do so. Fb is a bitch and sometimes they will fu*k you over and give you bad ad positions. If you truly believe you should get good CTR and low CPC and your CPM bidding didn't work…. Try CPC! Bid high for the first 3-4 clicks to see if CTR is better than before.

If it isn't, stop and move on to another niche.

BUT, if it is, immediately lower your bid on the lower end of suggested bid and see if you are still getting traffic. Your goal is to bid as low as possible… say.. 3 cents per click if you are OK with traffic volume…

However, with CPC is almost impossible to get 1 penny clicks (it takes longer and CTR has to be insane ~1%). 2-3 pennies, maybe…. Use your daily limit wisely and don't forget to pause ads after you submit them for review. I usually stay close to my PC, after I start running new campaign and check every few minutes, if traffic is already coming and how good CTR is.

Let me give you a practical example:





Here you see 2 of my ads, there is absolutely no difference between them (same pic, same title, same text, same LP, same targeting). The lower one was the winning ad for some time, using CPM strategy, but it slowly started dying (CTR dropped from 0,8% to 0,1%)



Then I submitted the upper ad and used CPC bidding model. I first bided over the upper suggested bid. After I got a few clicks, I saw CTR was around 0,8%. Then I lowered my bid to 4 cents and left it running. It still works – 3 days later CTR is stable around 0,5%. It won't last for long, because I already reached all people from my targeted audience with the first CPM ad.... This strategy is a good example how you can turn a dying CPM ad into a winning CPC ad and squeeze the last cheap traffic out of it.





It also brings up the WTF is going on question?:D As you can see, there are situations when Facebook doesn't treat 2 of your same ads equally.

My theory is that they give you different ad positions because it's in their interest that people click on ads when you use CPC model. Of course FB will consider the competition (if there is any) and if they can still make more money with their ads, your move, switching dying CPM ad into CPC ad, probably won't work.

I run an automated niche blog with WordPress and WP-O-Matic.

One of the sites, that I get RSS feeds from, posts its video content as thumbnails and gives you a link to view the video image by linking to it externally (youtube). These videos arent embedded, so you would have to click the thumbnail linking to youtube in order watch it.

As default, WPOM takes these posts and spits it out onto my site as the thumbnail, with a link to the original RSS site. Which is what it's supposed to do, but I would like to take it a step further.

Is there anyway to modify it so that the RSS feeds linked video is automatically embedded into my blog? Such that it can scrape the linked content off youtube and in my site. It would be helpful if it could also scrape the video's description.

Are there any other plugins/programs that could do this? I made an attempt with Yahoo pipes, but it got way to big and I had no idea what ended up doing.

Made around 400 blogs within one week - all with unique content and spread around 30 platforms, the site went up from 70 something to 40 something and then well... i made around 100 blogs within 2 days, pinged (in portions as they were created) and today morning I saw it went down by 300 positions.

Now I don't know if it's google penalty or just dancing before moving up? or 300 is to much for the second option? I don't quite get it - it's just that one page on service that has gone down so much (and in fact with keyword i was linking - on the other similar keyword it's on the better position than it was (top10)). Should i completely stop building links to it with that specific anchor, try linking from new sources or... ?

I'll just add that the domain is around 10 years old with 0,5mln pages indexed.

My site was going quite well and then I got this offer to try adwords voucher. Up and until then things were fine, then after using adwords, my site earnings zoomed up but once the budget got over, my site came down crashing thud, I am making mere cents now. I dont think panda is an issue because my content is original, well researched and fairly long above 600 word.

I again boosted the adwords budget with some earnings and then my earnings went high for some days and now it is next to nothing. I felt that I am being paranoid but on another forum, I saw someone telling the same thing.

I think when we use adwords and target one particular keyphrase, there is high ranking for that particular phrase and we get predominant traffic due to that. But once the budget goes down, the Panda thinks that it was spam traffic and the site comes under panda scanner and gets beaten. I am quite exasperated and am decided to leave this adsense/adwords thing for good
